Our special Great Grandpa Sheppick

Grandpa Sheppick passed away on June 16th, 2008. What a special day it was to honor him. He IS a great man. We were blessed to know him during our lifetime. To have him honored by the Naval Colorguard, was breathtaking. We will miss him.

His three daughters were there to honor him...
And his great posterity...great grandchildren

June '08

June was another busy month. Wesley's soccer finished up - he was soooooo fun to watch-silly guy!

Then Tolby kept showing his speed in soccer. No one could keep up with him - wowsers.

Gymnastics took up a lot of June, too. Miss Aubs did well in every event, and enjoyed the Summer Games, again. Her team even got a special tour with the SUU gymnastics coach, and their facilities.

And then, of course, she got to show off her flying skills.

She enjoyed having Gma & Gpa Hunt there, and staying in their MotorHome, and riding their bikes around the campground with Mom.

Maura had her dance recital. Boy can she shake her booty. Gma & Gpa Hunt enjoyed her craziness. Best dancer there!

Braden got out of school first part of June, because of his 4.0 GPA he was able to go to Magic Mtn with his Dad and ride roller coasters all day-fun fun.
He participated in the Summer Games, too. Took 2nd in soccer. (dang refs)

We are the wild child!

Last Friday, the kids' school had their "crazy hair day". Tolby decided he wanted to do a mohawk so he could spike his hair for school. So Greg told him he should shave the mohawk in his hair and then when he didn't want it anymore we could just buzz the rest of his hair. Wesley likes to be just like his big brothers............... So, here they are! By the way, Tolby came home right after school on Friday and had me shave off his mohawk. However, Wesley wouldn't let me shave his. So Wesley had his mohawk cut until this morning (Sunday). We shaved it before we got ready for church. He must have still been half asleep when we did it though. In the middle of Sacrament Meeting he touched the top of his head and said with a surprised look on his face, " Hey, my hair is gone!" It was really hard not the laugh out loud.

We now have cabinet doors!

We now have beautiful kitchen cabinet doors. Don't they look so nice! We love them and our whole kitchen. It is great to have so much room!

Our Famous Gymnast!

So, last week Aubrey's gym coach told her that she had seen her on a Utah Summer Games poster at a gym down in St. George where she had gone over the weekend. Aubrey came home from gymnastics all excited to tell me about it. She didn't know many details about the poster other that she was on it. So the next day, I asked her coach for more details. I figured it was probably a poster with lots of different events that they do at the summer games. But I was really interested to see what it looked like. So, last week I decided to email the marketing person over the summer games. I asked if there was any way that we could get one of the posters and gave them a description of what Aubrey looked like. Also, if they could at least email us a picture of the poster and then we could get the poster when we came down in June. After no response for almost a week I decided to email everyone that was over the Summer Games. (ok the three main people) I emailed then early this morning (since there was no one else up as early as I was to email back and forth too.) To my surprise, within about 1/2 hour, I had a response from the Director over the games with an attachment and a great response! He said that all of the posters had been distributed but they would try and track one down for us and if they couldn't find one they would print us a new one. Boy was I excited. I was shocked to see that the poster wasn't just a little shot of her but the entire poster was of her. WOW! how cool is that! Hope you enjoy it. We sure do :)

We are almost done!

We are so excited to be on the tail end of our project. We now have a kitchen sink with a faucet and running water. Our wood floor is almost all installed. It is so nice to be able to do our dishes at our OWN house. (Even ask Braden, he really likes having his job back!) We got the backsplashes on our countertops and the handles on the drawers and doors, which really make them look finished. We still have a few odds and ends to finish up. We have baseboards to put up, the desk area to finish sanding so that we can paint it, cabinet doors to get up, etc. But we are getting there. I am posting more pictures for you to see our progress. But we would love to have you come and see it is person. They look so much better. We would LOVE a visit from all of you anytime! A break down of the pictures. The first picture is of the living room. We have LIGHT!!!! Picture #2 is the new desk area that we knocked the wall out where is was roughed in for a fireplace, you can also see the bay window that we may put a breakfast nook in someday(that is where all the boxes are). Picture #3 is the view when you are standing in the bay window area. Picture #4 Is our new kitchen. Look at all the cabinet and shelf space we have. I guess I need to buy more stuff to fill them up! :)

The Counter tops are in!!!!!

Yee Haa! The counter tops were installed this morning. We are so excited. They look really good. They are still going to do a backsplash. That will be installed later. It is so nice to have the counter tops. The plumber came this afternoon and so did Greg's dad. They hooked up the plumbing the the sink and dishwasher and the electrical to the dishwasher and disposal. We are so excited to have our sink back. I have never been so excited to be able to wash my dishes. Here are a few more pic's we took. Hope you like them.

Our Current Project....... What a mess!!!!! :)

Ok. so this year with our tax refund we decided to remodel our kitchen. We decided we just couldn't live without Dad's awesome cabinets any longer. We talked alot about what we wanted for our kitchen. We decided we wanted to get more space in the "cooking" area. Our idea was to tear down the wall that was between the kitchen and the living room and rebuild it 3 feet toward the living room making the kitchen area 3 feet bigger. Then we decided that we wanted to make an island instead of a bar to open up the cooking area even more. Oh, and we didn't want our tile anymore. It always looked dirty and the carpets were stained and gross too. So about 5 weeks ago we started our remodel. First, we took out the carpets and start breaking up the tile. The tile was a big pain to get up and the backer board that they put underneath it was even worse. It took us at least 2 weeks to get it all up. The next project was to pull off the cabinets on the wall inbetween the living room and family room. Next, we got to knock down that wall. It was pretty easy until we had to try to get the lip off the top of the wall. It ended up being all plywood and was really heavy. Greg took his saw and cut all the 2x4's just below the lip of the wall. We tried to lift it off the top to realize it probably weighed at least a couple hundred pounds and it was now after 11pm. Since it was just Greg and I we decided we couldn't do it ourselves. So as Greg was balancing it up on one 2x4. We had to call the neighbors at the end of the street to come down and help us get it down (they are the only ones we knew for sure would still be up that late.) The next day, Sean Newell and Greg's dad came out to help us build the new wall. Roger Nielson (Mom and Dad's friend) had to come and help us move all the electrical from the old wall to the new wall. There were too many wires for us to try and figure out. :) Then they guys sheet rocked the wall. Now we were ready to pull out the sink and cabinets from the bar. That is when we realized that our plan for a island had a glitch. The plumbing for the sink drain didn't go through the floor like we thought. It went through the back of the cabinets on the bar and was about 2 feet off the floor. AAAGH! that was where the fridge was going to go. After a very stressful night, we got a plumber that lives in our ward to come over and give us his opinion. He was not hesitant at all and said it would be no problem to put the drain in the floor, all we had to do is cut out that part of the sub floor and he would come over and move the pipes. What a guy. He had it done the next day. Yah! Finally we were ready to mud and tape everything. We got a bid to do that on our new wall and about fell down with the cost. So Greg and I started mudding the wall where the cabinets would be. We figured that it would be mostly full of cabinets and so if we messed it up at least we wouldn't be able to see it. After what a good job we did with that wall, I decided to keep looking around for someone to do the wall in the living room. That one won't have any cabinets to hide the mistakes so we'd better get a professional. :) I found someone on KSL Classified who came and gave us a GREAT bid. When I asked him when he could start he said "right now" Great! He will be done of that wall tomorrow and it looks great. Anyways, we finally got to prime the walls in the kitchen on Friday night and got our paint and painted the walls where the cabinets are going to be on Saturday. Dad is going to come tomorrow night to put in the base cabinets so we can get them measured for the couter tops since they need a couple weeks to get those poured. I am so excited to finally have things come together. I still have a lot of painting to do since we are painting pretty much the whole upstairs but I am excited to get that done. Now that we finally found our camera again. (I put it in a safe place so it wouldn't get ruined during the demo of the kitchen and then I couldn't remember where I put it) Here are some pics of before and right now. Hope you like them. We will post more as we get closer to the finished product. It has been really hard to not have our kitchen, counter, sink, etc. We will be so glad when it is all done! There are some before and after pics of the kitchen at the bottom of our blog. Check out the progress!

Just another day...

Today was Greg's birthday. The big 37, and he thinks it's just another day. It is. Hair is greyer, doesn't get around as easy, but still loves life.

Ah, remodeling....

Well, hopefully come February 2008 we can get our kitchen completed. Here's a quick taste of the beginnings of it, this is the "great room" part of it - full of wonderfully DeMill built cabinets, and the helpers (I'm at work).

Tis' the season to be jolly...

Finally, we're figuring this thing out. Happy Holiday's everyone. Glad it's 2008, now. The Holiday's were great. Nice time off to be with the family. Plenty of snow (too much for Sherece's taste). Lot's of snow has been a headache (and backache) for those who don't own a snowblower. Kids have "tried" to help, but a nice snowblower would be nice. Any ideas?

The snow has prevented our little Maura to participate. She broke her arm doing what her and her big sister love, gymnastics. It was one of the grossest things I've ever seen. Her arm made an "S". She snapped both bones in her forearm. She hung tough, and already only has just a couple more weeks left with it. Sad. They had to give her "medicine" to help her sleep while they put it in place. Sherece and my Dad were tough enough to stay in there, my Mom and I had to leave. She's doing great, though.

Christmas Eve is spent at the extended Hunt Family's home - overnight with all the grandkids, but another tradition we started a couple years ago is to go to IHOP on Christmas Eve morning - but this year, Sherece had to work, so we went on the Saturday before. It was fun to have the kids actually eat all their meals - just a great time. But then on Christmas Eve morn, Sherece was able to get off early, to do a little Christmas magic and "decorate" the girls rooms. The painting, etc were completed on that day, so the girls could see their rooms done, on Christmas morning, after coming home from Gma/Gpa's sleepover. Boy were they excited.

Check out the performance by my parents on the Christmas Eve festivities. Talent runs in the family.....

The boys and I enjoyed my Santa gift of Guitar hero-and all can jam. Wes, of course enjoyed getting more cars, and cars. Yes gifts are fun, but our family really enjoys the time spent together, remembering our Savior's birth.
